Microdermabrasion Vs Chemical Peel - Which is Better?

Microdermabrasion and chemical peel treatments are both similar in alot of ways. They scrape out the outer layers of the skin bringing about a removal of dead cells, debris and scars on the face. Although, both are similar treatments, what you need to choose for treating your skin problems will largely depend on your specific problem and the skin type you have. Mild acne scars treatment can be brought about by this method.

Microdermabrasion is the least invasive treatment of all the dermatological procedures. It is good for treating mild scars, sun spots etc. Also, repeated treatments will be necessary to gain a good relief from the scars. However, for much deeper scars, age spots, pigmentation scars, wrinkles etc. microdermabrasion will not be of much help and a treatment like chemical peeling would be a necessity.

Chemical peels have a lot of options as it comes in varied strengths and concentrations. Depending upon your requirement you can choose the treatmet that is right for you. Mild facial and removal of mild scars can be brought out by peels of lesser strength and concentration, where as for deep rooted scars a much higher concentration would be required.

Chemical peels, like microdermabrasion treatment, could be both home administered as well as hospital administered. Different acids are available for chemical peels. Glycolic acid peels, phenolic acid peels and lactic acid peels are the ones that are commonly available. These peels based on acids are not the ones recommended for  home treatment as acids burn anything they come in contact with including the skin.

Also, there are peels that are based on a natural formulation and are approved by FDA for home usage. Such peels can be administered safely at home. Click Here to Read of Review of One such Peel (SKin Culture Peel).

Cost wise, microdermabrasion kits range in a few hundred dollars, where as chemical peels will cost you in thousands athough, clearly they are more effective and can be used for all types of skin conditions.

However, skin culture peels is the only cost effective peel that is economical and at the same time safe and effective for removing even the deepest scars left over by acne, burns, sun spots, pigmentation scars etc.
